Easy, Crispy Oven-Baked Sweet Potato Fries

These sweet potato fries are just the best. Dip them in ketchup, chipotle aioli, or just eat them on their own. You will keep coming back for more!

Not only are sweet potatoes super rich in vitamins and minerals, luckily they’re also delectable! These oven baked fries are perfectly crispy, spicy and sweet! They’re delicious paired with burgers, salad, grilled chicken, or on their own. I love dipping my sweet potato fries in tangy homemade ketchup, mayo, or chipotle aioli. How will you eat them?

My Tips for Crispy Fries:

  • Dry off the sweet potatoes before baking. Removing excess moisture from the potatoes helps prevent them from getting soggy. After cutting them up, dry them off with a clean, dry kitchen towel or a few paper towels. on’t overcrowd the pan!
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan. Spread your fries out onto two separate baking sheets so there is space between each fry. If they’re too close together, they will just create steam between each other while they cook and will never get crispy!
  • Flip them halfway through bake time. Use a large spatula to flip the fries over and make sure they cook evenly!

What to Eat with Sweet Potato Fries:

I love sweet potato fries with just about any meal, but here are some of my pairing suggestions:

  • With a juicy burger
  • With a turkey bacon club sandwich
  • With a grilled chicken breast
  • With crispy fish tacos
  • On top of a steak salad with bleu cheese crumbles
  • On their own – dipped in ketchup, mayo, or chipotle aioli!

I hope you love these sweet potato fries as much as I do. They’re sweet, smokey, crispy, and spiced perfectly. If you carefully follow my instructions, they will crisp up so nicely in the oven! They make the best mid-day snack or a great side dish for your lunch or dinner. They also keep well in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, so they’re perfect for meal prepping!

Ingredients

  • 2 large sweet potatoes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil, extra virgin
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground cumin

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425°F. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper and set aside.
  • Wash off your sweet potatoes and thoroughly pat dry with paper towels. Carefully slice the sweet potatoes into ¼" fry-shaped pieces.
  • Toss the sweet potatoes with just olive oil and salt. (Don't add remaining seasonings yet.)
  • Spread out the sweet potato slices on baking sheets, leaving space between each piece. This will help them get crispy. Don't overcrowd the pan or they will never crisp!
  • Bake sweet potatoes for 25 minutes or until desired crispiness, flipping them over halfway through for even cooking.
  • After they're cooked, let cool for 5 minutes and then toss with remaining seasonings. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Waiting until afterwards to season the potatoes prevents the seasonings and spices from burning in the oven!
  • Let cool completely, then refrigerate leftover fries in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
