- ½ lb. bison meat, ground
- 12 pitted medjool dates
- 2 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp minced onion, dried
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- kosher salt and black pepper, to taste
- marinara sauce of choice, I like Ragu No Sugar Added
Preheat your oven to 300°F. In a small round or square baking dish, our just enough marinara sauce to cover the bottom of the dish. Set aside.
In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground bison until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes. Turn off the heat. Drain the fat and add bison back to skillet.
Add seasonings to cooked bison and stir to combine.
Carefully, use a knife to make a lengthwise slit into each of the dates. Be careful not to cut all the way through.
Using your fingers or a spoon, stuff each date with the desired amount of cooked bison meat. Place the stuffed dates, cut side up, directly into the baking dish with marinara sauce. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until everything is heated through. Serve immediately!
